The Executive Branch granted a class C license to Unired Digital, a company made up of TCC, NuevoSiglo and Montecable, for “the installation within the department of Montevideo, of links, media and telecommunications systems for their provision or rental to licensees of telecommunications services. The resolution is dated August 5 and was signed by President Luis Lacalle Pou after a recommendation from the National Telecommunications Directorate.
According to what the director of Ursec for the Frente Amplio, Pablo Siris, told the Montevideo Portal, Unired is the company through which the consortium of cable operators is going to lay the optical fiber to make the so-called last mile.
