WTSA-24 achieves global agreements on AI, metaverse and sustainability

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) highlighted that the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2024 (WSTA-24) reached agreements translated into eight new resolutions that reinforce the work on standards.

The decisions order the ITU to give priority to:

-Responsible, secure and inclusive AI, including collaboration through the AI ??for Good platform.

-Trustworthy, inclusive and interoperable metaverse applications.

-Sustainable digital transformation across multiple industries and technologies.

-Technical requirements for digital public infrastructure.

-Communication technologies for vehicles to everything, intelligent transport systems and automated driving.

-Call location information from mobile phones to support emergency communications.

-Preparing students and young professionals as the next generation of ITU standards experts.

-Continuous improvement and evolution to meet new policy objectives and market demand.
