Government announces agreement with Google to modernize public services

The project aims to improve the quality of public services, optimize state management, and strengthen transparency in administrative processes. It also includes plans to establish a Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Center.

Artificial intelligence tools will be implemented to "combat illegal activities such as drug trafficking, deforestation, and irregular settlements, reinforcing security and sustainability in the country," explained the Presidency.

According to the National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT), these are some of the areas in which Google will collaborate: In healthcare, AI solutions will be implemented to improve the management of medical appointments, optimizing the assignment of shifts and reducing waiting times. In education, a program aimed at improving students' reading skills through AI and a comprehensive application for citizens and teachers will facilitate access to educational information.

Regarding public administration transparency, AI will be used to analyze large volumes of data and detect potential fraud in the management of public resources. In terms of state modernization, the cyberdefense of CNT's data centers will be reinforced, and online citizen procedures will be streamlined. As for security, a satellite monitoring system will detect illegal activities such as illegal deforestation, and emergency response times will be improved through the Android ELS system.

Additionally, the government will bolster its capabilities with Palantir, a U.S.-based technology company specializing in software for analyzing large datasets. Palantir will focus on enhancing customs controls through state-of-the-art technological solutions.
