Colombia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached an agreement for the installation of three strategic data centers in Santa Marta, after an investment of more than US$80,000,000 and an energy supply of up to 30 megawatts (MW), in addition to connectivity ensured by the telecommunications company InterNexa.
According to the Presidency of the Republic, this initiative is part of the project called BioNube (BioCloud), whose main objective is to guarantee the sovereignty and security of state data through the creation of a sovereign cloud infrastructure.
President Gustavo Petro described the project as “a cutting-edge initiative” that combines the construction of a sovereign cloud with the development of infrastructure for artificial intelligence.
