A report on the performance of fixed telephony, internet, and television services in Colombia during the second quarter of 2024, conducted by the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC), revealed that fixed internet access via fiber optics grew by 20%, reaching 3.63 million. Additionally, the report states that fixed service access reached 11.3 million, a 2.9% decrease compared to the same period the previous year. Of these accesses, 85% belonged to the residential segment.
The analysis also reported that 39.6% of accesses (4.48 million) corresponded to triple-play bundled services (internet, telephony, and TV), while 17.8% combined two of these services. Meanwhile, 42.5% of accesses had one of these services individually, with the most common double-play bundle being telephony and internet, accounting for over 1.48 million accesses.
As of June 2024, the fixed services penetration rate in Colombia was 43.85% for fixed internet, 32.96% for pay TV, and 33.6% for fixed telephony. Fixed internet access increased by 0.24% compared to the second quarter of 2023, while pay TV subscriptions declined by 2.86% and fixed telephony fell by 7.2%, reaching 7.02 million.
The document also highlights the 20% growth in fiber optic access, reaching 3.63 million by June 2024, and notes that the national average contracted download speed increased by 66.3%, reaching 267.4 Mbps, while the upload speed was 147.6 Mbps. Meanwhile, the pay TV service had the greatest impact on this variation, with a reduction of 0.82 percentage points. Fixed internet services accounted for 62% of total fixed service revenues, while the average monthly revenue per fixed access was US$22 as of June 2024.
