Key Court hearing on Google's advertising tech monopoly

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema in Alexandria, Virginia, will hold a hearing today to get an overview of possible remedies to restore competition in the ad tech markets.

In that context, Google representatives will urge the judge to avoid the breakup of its advertising business—a proposal put forward by the U.S. government as part of an effort to end Google’s dominance over key tools used for selling ads on the Internet.

Google is aiming to avoid a scenario similar to a separate case unfolding in Washington, where a judge is considering the Justice Department’s request for the company to divest its Chrome web browser due to monopoly allegations in the online search business.
