Claro presents Q1 Telecom results to Argentina's CNDC

Last Thursday, two days after the release of Telecom’s first-quarter 2025 results, América Móvil’s subsidiary made a presentation before the National Commission for the Defense of Competition (CNDC). The report, as detailed by Convergencia last week, includes information on the operation of Telefónica Móviles Argentina. For Claro, the consolidation of financial statements constitutes "an express violation of the very wording of the Preliminary Injunction" (referring to the measure introduced by the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce on March 21), which orders Telecom to "refrain from performing any legal, corporate, and/or commercial act that directly or indirectly implies integration or consolidation with Telefónica Móviles Argentina S.A."

Based on this, Claro requested that the CNDC rule on the mentioned conduct and impose sanctions. Additionally, Claro asked in the presentation for the appointed Monitoring Agent to be instructed to oversee any legal, corporate, accounting, and commercial acts carried out to date and in the future that could imply "instances of integration/consolidation between Telecom and Telefónica."

They added that the documents submitted by Telecom on March 13 clearly show "an exchange of sensitive information" between Telecom and Telefónica, including references to efficiency plans, business summaries, pricing strategies, subscriber databases, disaggregated billing, operations, key financial information, and consolidated results.
