Marcelo Herrera, manager of NECTA (a trust for connectivity and productive development in Mendoza), presented the results of a tender launched by the Government of Mendoza to connect 255 rural schools using satellite technology.
The contract was awarded to Orbith, which deployed a multi-orbit solution offering symmetrical speeds of up to 100 Mbps, active monitoring, 24/7 technical support and an SLA monitored by both provincial teams and the operator. They have also connected another 200 public facilities.
Currently, the province is deploying an SD-WAN network in partnership with Telefónica and is considering incorporating multi-orbit solutions in future tenders. In parallel, they are developing educational platforms with heavy use of video and gamified content, which is increasing data consumption.
