A new report from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) highlights that connectivity has doubled in landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) since 2014.
Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, noted that this growth comes with challenges: although an estimated 86% of LLDC residents had mobile broadband coverage in 2024, only 39% of the population was using the Internet.
Nevertheless, Zavazava emphasized that while this figure is well below the global average of 68%, it is encouraging that adoption has grown at an annual rate of 11% since 2014, significantly outpacing the global rate of 7%.
