América Móvil closed the second quarter of the year with a total of eight million mobile subscribers in the region, adding 65,000 net mobile additions in the Dominican Republic. However, Puerto Rico recorded 111,000 disconnections, all in the prepaid segment, which offset part of the regional growth.
In the fixed-line segment, 17,000 new revenue-generating units were added, bringing the total to 2.9 million in the Caribbean. The region reported revenue of US$479 million. Overall sector revenues increased by 1.7% year-over-year in the Dominican Republic and declined by 0.% in Puerto Rico. EBITDA rose by 3.7% in the Dominican Republic and fell by 6.5% in Puerto Rico, totaling US$178 million for the region.
