Amazon acquired a stake in the Colombian delivery company Rappi with an initial investment, according to sources close to the transaction, of US$25 million through a convertible promissory note. The agreement gives Amazon the right to purchase up to 12% of Rappi through warrants if certain timelines are met.
Sources indicated that this stake not only provides financial backing but also the possibility of integrating Amazon’s logistical and technological capabilities into Rappi’s ecosystem. The transaction still requires approval from competition regulatory authorities in several countries.
