With the start of operations of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT), replacing the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), Mexican operators stressed the need for the new body to act with “independence” and provide “certainty” to the sector.
Representatives from AT&T, América Móvil, and Telefónica told El Financiero that several issues remain pending from the IFT’s tenure, particularly 5G spectrum and its high costs.
They also emphasized that the CRT must maintain its technical specialization while engaging in dialogue with industry players.
