Qualcomm enters the AI chip market for data centers

Qualcomm introduced two chips, named AI200 and AI250, designed to enhance memory capacity and run AI applications (inference). They will be commercially available in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

The announcement boosted Qualcomm’s shares by 20%. Investors welcomed the product diversification as an entry into the dynamic AI market and a move away from the smartphone market, following the decline in orders from Huawei and Apple.
