90.8% of households have a landline or mobile phone

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported that 90.8% of households in Bolivia have a landline and/or mobile phone, according to data from the 2024 National Population and Housing Census.

This percentage has increased compared to 2012, when that year’s census indicated that 65.1% of households had telephone service, while in 2001 the figure was 22.4%.

Regarding rural areas, the 2024 Census indicated that 81.6% of households in these zones have a landline and/or mobile phone. This percentage has grown significantly, as the figure was 33.9% in 2012 and only 1.6% in 2001.
