Osiptel publishes new Conditions of Use regulation for telecom services

The Telecommunications Investment Supervisory Agency has published the updated Rules on the Conditions of Use of Public Telecommunications Services, aligning them with current market dynamics and technological advances, and rewriting them in clearer, more accessible language to empower users of mobile, fixed-line, pay TV, and internet services.

Among the key changes, provisions related to services no longer in use, such as operator-assisted calling, prepaid cards, subscriber guides, telephone directories, and voicemail, among others, have been removed.

The rule also updates the migration process, allowing it to take place on the date set by the subscriber, meaning it will no longer be necessary to wait until the next billing cycle. The timeframe for service cancellation has also been reduced from five business days to one business day.

Another change establishes that SIM replacement and mobile number recovery must be completed within one to four hours from the moment the subscriber’s identity is verified.
