With the signing of a memorandum of understanding, the communications regulators of Colombia and Mexico have launched a high-level regulatory cooperation agenda focused on exchanging knowledge, best practices and regulatory innovation in strategic areas such as 5G, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and user and audience protection.
The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) of Colombia and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (Comisión Reguladora de Telecomunicaciones, CRT) of Mexico signed a memorandum establishing a non-binding framework for collaboration, within the scope of each entity’s authority, centered on the exchange of technical expertise and regulatory best practices. The goal is to help analyze and address current and future challenges in the telecommunications, broadcasting and digital services sectors amid rapid technological transformation.
The planned cooperation includes initiatives such as technical assistance, participation in expert working groups, academic and training activities, and the exchange of non-confidential information, among other actions. These initiatives will focus on key areas including regulatory improvement, digital and OTT services, artificial intelligence applied to regulatory design, 5G and non-terrestrial networks (NTN), cybersecurity, quality of service, infrastructure sharing, exchange of statistical data, measurement tools, and the protection of user and audience rights.
