ANE does not contemplate spectrum allocation for ITS applications

The National Spectrum Agency (Agencia Nacional del Espectro, ANE) took a new step in the technical and regulatory analysis of spectrum use conditions for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), with the aim of identifying alternatives that contribute to the development of connected mobility solutions in the country.

“While some of the contributions received raised the possibility of allocating specific spectrum for ITS applications, the results of the diagnosis conducted by the Agency indicate that, for the time being, the exclusive allocation of spectrum bands for these systems is not being considered in the short term,” ANE said.

It is worth recalling that in April 2025, the agency published a diagnostic study on spectrum use conditions for these systems, which found that technical and operational conditions currently exist that would allow the implementation of most ITS services in Colombia.
