The Government of Mexico took the first steps to launch the Coatlicue supercomputer project with the establishment of the Technical Committee for the Coatlicue Supercomputing Infrastructure.
It was also determined that the National Polytechnic Institute (Instituto Politécnico Nacional, IPN), Zacatenco Unit, will host the project. The initiative is being supported by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).
The Technical Committee is made up of the Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (Secretaría de Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación, Secihti), the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications (Agencia de Transformación Digital y Telecomunicaciones, ATDT), the Center for Research and Innovation in Information and Communication Technologies (Centro de Investigación e Innovación en Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación, INFOTEC), and the Potosino Institute for Scientific and Technological Research (Instituto Potosino de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica, IPICYT), in addition to representatives from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM), the IPN, and the National Technological Institute of Mexico (Tecnológico Nacional de México, TecNM).
