New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued an executive order imposing a one-year moratorium on the construction of new large data centers requiring 50 megawatts or more of electricity.
"This pause will remain in place for one year, during which time New York will establish the strongest possible framework to protect our communities, reduce risks to the power grid, minimize land disruption and noise pollution, and safeguard our natural resources, especially water supplies," Hochul said during a press conference.
