Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, Anatel) opened two public consultations on the use of Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) systems in the 6 GHz spectrum.
The proposal seeks to pave the way for outdoor Wi-Fi systems, including through a shared neutral infrastructure model that could serve users of multiple providers.
Public Consultation No. 41/2026, open for 70 days, proposes new requirements for certifying standard-power Wi-Fi equipment based on the use of AFC systems.
Meanwhile, Public Consultation No. 42/2026, also open for 70 days, will address the technical and operational requirements and registration procedures for AFC systems themselves.
