The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe, ECLAC) presented the fourth edition of the Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index (ILIA 2026).
The study, prepared by ECLAC and Chile’s National Center for Artificial Intelligence (Centro Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial, CENIA), assesses 20 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean across three dimensions: enabling factors; research, development and adoption; and governance.
For the first time, this edition also compares the region with five countries outside Latin America and the Caribbean, providing a broader perspective on its position in the international landscape.
