Megadatos merged Ecuanet to sustain sales growth

The ISP Ecuanet merged the telco Megadatos. The process is to end in October, when legal requisites are completed. Megadatos will be the name of both firms, Ecuanet (for residential Internet accounts) and Access Ram (for corporate clients). Negotiations lasted nine months, though firms have been jointly working since April.

Megadatos is present in 14 cities countrywide, and in 2000, it devised an integration strategy with other local firms to diversify its offer. Its first alliance was with Telecom and Access Internet, and, since then, sales have gone up 30% a year, on average. For 2005, Megadatos is assessing possibilities of merging other firms so as to keep turnover performance.

Access Ram has over 1,000 clients, accounting for 13% of the corporate segment, while Ecuanet registers 8,708 clients, 8% of the residential market.
