CTI Móvil entrance activates Uruguayan market

The Mexican firm arrived to the country with the objective of capturing 50% of the market. Its aggressive strategy threatens Ancel and demands a stronghold from Movicom that is currently in Telefónica

In spite of some voices pointing out that the local mobile market lacks space for a third competitor, América Móvil landed in Uruguay with an ambitious project: keep 50% of the local customers. Facing the new stage, the other two cell operators in the country (state company Ancel and Movicom) got to work to face 2005 that will be more and more competitive.
