Hispamar and Intelsat to share orbital position 55.5ºW

Amazonas 1 satellite belonging to Hispamar, was relocated to an Intelsat orbit and will be used jointly by both companies during the implementation of the Football World Cup to be held in the country as from June.

The Amazonas 1 operated in inclined orbit at 36°W, where it had been taken when it was replaced by the Amazonas 3 in orbit position 61ºW. Now it was transferred to Intelsat position 55.5°W, where it will share the position with the Intelsat Galaxy 11 satellite. This situation will continue for the next two years, taking into account that in 2016 the Olympic swill be held in Rio de Jeneiro.
