Digitel TIM in hands of Italians

According to what the Cámara de Empresas de Telecomunicaciones (Casetel) informed, the current president at Digitel TIM, Gustavo Rossi, appeared optimistic in the purchase of the operator on behalf of Televenco, owned by the Venezuelan executive Gustavo Cisneros. However, highlighted that Digitel TIM will continue in the hands of the Italians. The executive pointed out that, “while sector authorities (Edition Note: Comisión Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Conatel) and Procompetencia, the consumer defence organization) will not emit their opinions, we continue being a company in the hands of Italian stockholders, which without doubt have supported the operator up until now”. Likewise, Rossi added, “If the answer is positive, we will take advantage of it”.

The head at Digitel TIM, headed the company during the company’s asset purchase process for a period of almost two years. Within that term, the executives Carlos Slim, owner of Telmex and América Móvil, and Gustavo Roosen, president at Cantv, wanted to purchase the branch of Telecom Italia without any success.
