ETB presents unlimited LD plans to compete with fixed and mobiles

The Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá (ETB) has presented its new unlimited national and international long distance plans, which it will use to compete with fixed and mobile operators that are offering the service. The company’s president, Rafael Orduz, said that ETB is the first company with a long distance license to launch this type of plan. The offer contemplates seven unlimited call options of NLD and ILD. Each one will have a monthly fixed cost and as striking, ETB will offer unlimited calls with a more economical rate to a number chosen in Colombia or any other country, according to the plan chosen by the user.

ETB`s decision is part of its strategy two strengthen Colombia Móvil (OLA) while looking for a strategic partner. ETB and Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) are the main stockholders of OLA. Up to the moment, OLA`s information room has been visited by, Cable & Wireless from the United Kingdom, Millicom from Luxembourg, Entel PCS from Chile, América Móvil from Mexico, and investment banks, ABN Amro, Bank de Holanda, BN Paribas from France, Colcorp from Columbia and Santander Investment from Spain. These companies will present their nonbinding offer to determine the market’s interest concerning the operations of OLA.
