Americatel stop offering international call service based on tax of US$ 0.04

Americatel has informed that it stopped offering the international call service, arguing that this decision was taken based on the fact that tax of US$ 0.04 imposed to international incoming calls affected service profitability. Sources of the company stated that in the telephony operator market, a 60 day collection term is considered, but if the tax is collected by the treasure within 30 days companies are left illiquid. After this decision, Americatel informed that it will manage other business areas within the same group enjoying more profitability. Tigo as well as Telefónica had previously say that the volume of incoming calls has fallen by 30% for both companies since the tax become effective.
