Supercable to make IPTV and "video on demand" tests by end of month

By the end of June, the pay TV operator, Supercanal, will start testing the IPTV and video on demand systems. The launching of these services will require an investment between US$ 250,000 and US$ 300,000, according to the general manager of the company, Christian Arce. Additionally, the company plans to render voice over IP (VoIP) . The marketing of new services will begin two months after the Superitendencia de Telecomunicaciones, SUTEL (Telecom Regulator) grants authorization.

Additionally, Televisora de Costa Rica, owner of Cable Tica, has already filed before the Ministry of Environment, Power and Telecommunications the amendment of its frequency concession to provide, as well as television, Internet and telephony services. Amnet and Cable Visión also bet on providing Triple Play.
