The characteristics of each city and its inhabitants are what define the path of the smart city policies. In Argentina, there are isolated projects that incorporate ICT for management and facilitate the daily lives of citizens. The challenge is to achieve sustainability and the integration of policies.

In Argentina there are 2,234 municipalities. In its vast majority, the biggest technological advance is a web page with information about authorities, services, activities and data about the city; The others allow you to carry out procedures through the page; A few have isolated projects to incorporate ICTs to control parking, security, data on public transport, transparency and open government; and none of them have a comprehensive Smart City program that starts with infrastructure that is comprehensively designed (covering different areas of management) and in the long term.
