Telefónica earned € 779 million in the first quarter, which represents a 42.2% increase compared to the € 548 million it earned in the same period of 2016. The comparison is made to the first quarter of last year, which coincides approximately with the arrival of José María Álvarez Pallete to the executive presidency of Telefónica, in April 2016.
