The Law to Regulate Financial Technology Institutions, known as Fintech Law, will be discussed this year in the House of Representatives after the Senate gave it preliminary approval in December 2017, with 102 votes in favor and none against. The government of President Enrique Peña Nieto wanted the law to be passed at the end of last year, but the PAN stopped the Senate's bill in the House Finance Committee in order to review the 38 amendments to the original bill approved by the Upper House.
