Some 3,000 delegates from 190 countries met yesterday in Sharm el-Sheikh, although debates have been going on for a long time, in a heated scenario prior to the ITU event. The item 1.13 of the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) agenda will be a star protagonist, with a high dose of controversy and the confrontation that was already seen in the previous meeting, in 2015, between the mobile and satellite industries. Item 1.13 takes into consideration the spectrum already available for IMT, the one already used, and the need to protect existing services, which runs in parallel with the demand for new 5G services.
