The Open Fiber model in the ETB-Ufinet alliance

Fiber Connect Latam 2021 event, organized by the Fiber Broadband Latam Chapter, began today with the experiences of fiber operators in the region. Efraín Martínez, vice president of infrastructure at the Colombian ETB, provided details of the operator's alliance with Ufinet to create neutral networks in the country, with the European Open Fiber model as a reference. The objective, once the regulator's permits are obtained, will be to establish a new company, which will have ETB and Ufinet as partners and which will be in charge of managing the passive network and marketing it. In this way, ETB will have two roles: as a network provider and at the same time as a client of that new company.
