Change of habits and economic crisis: three out of four households canceled telecommunications services

The post-pandemic accentuated the trends observed during the Covid-19 crisis. Ecuadorians abandoned fixed telephony and pay TV services to subscribe to mobile phone plans and streaming services. 38.1% of families spend between US$51 and US$85 per month on telecommunications services, while 34.9% spend between US$21 and US$50.

Households in Ecuador changed their consumption habits and both pay television and fixed telephony were the services most affected by the decision to disconnect. This emerges from a recent investigation by the Universidad Tecnológica Empresarial de Guayaquil (UTEG)) (Technological Business University of Guayaquil) that reflects these modifications after the peak of the pandemic.
