Decree No. 425/022, dated December 2022, instructed the Communication Services Regulatory Unit (Ursec) to submit to the Executive Power, for its approval, a Base and Conditions Sheet governing the assignment of frequencies for the provision of IMT services in the 3,300-3,400 MHz and 3,600-3,800 MHz segments. These are three blocks currently unassigned, in the most sought-after band to advance on 5G. From then on, Uruguay went through a stormy summer plagued by criticism of the process, which only got more complicated with the beginning of autumn.
