EU approves world's first cryptoasset regulation

The regulation will come into force in 2024. It controls the issuance and trading of crypto assets, as well as virtual wallets and marketplaces. Those who carry out activities related to crypto assets will have to register with the European authority. They will also have to inform who is involved in any transaction with crypto assets.

European Union states on Tuesday gave the final go-ahead to the world's first comprehensive set of rules to regulate crypto assets, increasing pressure on countries such as Britain and the United States to catch up.
