The challenge is monetizing 5G

The three Chilean operators already operating 5G are consolidating their proposals. Movistar is moving forward with IoT and corporate services, as is Entel. WOM bet on the retail segment, where after two years of 5G implementation, price competition shows the limits to continue progressing. ClaroVTR is awaiting the new spectrum auction to enter the business.

Throughout 2023, analyses accumulated regarding the challenges of monetizing 5G in Chile. According to the consultancy Analysis Mason, the investments made by operators in the country would amount to US$3.5 billion for 4G and 5G networks between 2018 and 2024.
