Own vs. shared networks: divided waters among medium-sized providers

The cases of DirecTV, Iplan, Metrotel, Sion, Gigared and Súper, all mid-sized ICT providers, illustrate two different growth models in FTTH: those that opt for network sharing and those that prefer their own networks.

Iplan, Gigared, Supercanal, Express, DIRECTV, Sion, among others, can be somewhat arbitrarily classified as medium-sized ICT providers. When it comes to investing in fiber, they are grouped into two categories: those who favor sharing and those who prefer their own networks. DIRECTV, Iplan, Metrotel, and Sion fall into the first group. Meanwhile, Gigared, Supercanal, and Express are part of the second group.
