Smartphones: Cheapest 5G models are equivalent to 1.5 minimum wage

With four years in the market, brands like Samsung have focused their sales on the entry-level segment. The value of the iPhone 15 Pro Max—the most expensive model in the Argentine market—is equivalent to 18.77 minimum wages.

The availability of 5G devices has been around for four years. Pablo Brancone, Product Manager for Motorola in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia, recalled that in 2020 they announced the arrival of the brand's first 5G-compatible device in the country. Meanwhile, Franco Armentano, Mobile Product Manager at Samsung Argentina, stated that since 2022, the South Korean company has been offering these types of smartphones. As for Apple, the iPhone 12 line was the first to feature this technology in October 2020.
