MinCiencia opens a public consultation for the Data Center Plan

Replies will be received until November 20. The plan is expected to be defined by the end of the first quarter of 2025. According to the ministry, there are some 20 data center projects to be installed in the Santiago area with a global investment of more than US$ 4 billion. The objective is to order the expansion process so that it is balanced with the strengthening of the electricity grid and care for the environment.

The Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation (MinCiencia) opened a public consultation on the National Data Centers Plan (PDATA) that will be open until November 20. This is a very important step in defining the foundations of the plan, which is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2025.

MinCiencia assured that the process "will allow the incorporation of community opinions to ensure that the growth of the Data Center industry addresses the socio-environmental and technological challenges of the country."
