Construction of 18 new semiconductor plants to begin this year

The United States and Japan lead the ranking with 4 projects each. The boost is provided by the processing needs of GenAI applications, especially in the leading-edge memory and logic segments.

The semiconductor industry will initiate 18 new factory construction projects in 2025. The new projects include 3 facilities of 200 mm and 15 of 300 mm, most of which are expected to begin operations between 2026 and 2027, according to the latest quarterly World Fab Forecast report from the global association SEMI.
