ICE launches new tender to deploy 5G network

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) has launched a new tender worth US$249.3 million for the development of 5G networks, doubling the investment from the previous process, which was declared void in May. The fifth-generation network will be based on the Open RAN model. According to the public tender published on Sicop, this approach aims to encourage competition and the participation of multiple suppliers by minimizing the use of proprietary components.
