Globalstar acquisition does not narrow the gap between Amazon LEO and Starlink

Amazon’s LEO constellation only has 243 satellites in orbit, compared with more than 10,000 from Starlink. Globalstar will add 24 more specifically designed for direct-to-device (D2D) services. The case of Apple and AST SpaceMobile.

With the agreement under which it will pay US$11.6 billion to acquire Globalstar, Amazon sought to take a leap in its space ambitions, although for some analysts the move would be very limited compared with its current competition, especially SpaceX’s Starlink LEO constellation.
