Entel tests WhatsApp messaging in areas without mobile coverage using Starlink

In a mobile coverage–free area in Cieneguilla, Lima, a mobile phone successfully sent a WhatsApp message using satellite signal as part of the service implementation developed by Entel in partnership with Starlink. With this, the operator marked the transition from SMS to data services in direct-to-device connectivity. Peru and Chile have thus become the first countries in Latin America to deploy this connectivity and the fifth worldwide.
