Viettel enters the market and targets Claro, Altice and Viva

The Vietnamese operator, which is already present on the other side of the island in Haiti, was awarded 240 MHz of spectrum. What will be the first steps for the new fourth player entering a market with more than 11 million mobile lines?

The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones, Indotel) awarded 240 MHz in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3.6 GHz bands to Viettel Global, a subsidiary of Vietnam-based Viettel, which made headlines in June when it announced its entry into the Dominican Republic through a US$560 million investment.
