Sion acquired 100% of UOL Sinectis, after a negotiation process that lasted more than one year, as informed yesterday by the company. The Chairman, Luis Quimelli, does not reject other future purchases. According to data collected by Convergencialatina, Sion holds less capacity than the one recently sold. ISP Sion receives 100M of connectivity from IFX, provides ADSL services and assures that it provides communication service in 340 cities, list never revealed. UOL Sinectis –Brazilian– has hired 180M from Telefónica, 150M from Telecom and 34M from Global Crossing; additionally, it has 7 national nodes and it provides Internet through ADSL and Wireless.

As informed by the official release, the purchase took place within the framework of a strategic investment plan implemented by Sion since 2009 to increase the national coverage. In this way, Sion obtains presence in 1,000 districts of the country and it will increase revenue by 260%. Although no information is given on number of accesses held by each company, the commercial plan is aimed at reaching 200,000 customers by the end of this year, with which it will turn into the fourth Internet operator regarding size, behind Telefónica, Telecom and Cablevisión, although far behind the one million subscribers held by Grupo Clarín.
