DirecTV launches BlackBerry Optimus application in six countries to improve service

Javier Roitman, Development Manager of the Field Technology Division of DirecTV PanAmericana spoke with Convergencialatina on Optimus application for BlackBerry, which last week was awarded a Blackberry Achievement Awards. Optimus is now available in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina and Chile, and Uruguay will be added soon.

The application allows DirecTV technicians to manage purchase orders, receive them, process them and activate them electronically online –from BlackBerry terminals. "This reduces the paperwork and the possibility that the technician has to return to the house. We aim to improve quality of service, because the application communicates with the set-top-box via Bluetooth, obtains the values from the satellite signal and instantly checks if the installation was done properly", said Roitman.
