6,865 virtual accounts opened in the first month of the electronic cash system

Reported by the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE), and confirmed that users may start making transactions in mid-February. Claro leads in number of service customers with 3,889 subscribers, followed by Movistar with 2,348 and the National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT), with 628. Concerning the areas of adoption, 2,797 accounts were opened in Sierra, 2,073 in the Coast and 215 in the Amazon and Insular regions.

The system, which began operating on December 24, has 70 officers and 235 centers.
