There were 15.7 million pay TV subscriptions in the third quarter of 2014

The figure showed an increase of 1.4% compared to the previous quarter, according to the latest report of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT, for its Spanish acronym).With this increase; the service penetration was located in the order of 51.1%. Of the total number of contracts, 55% corresponded to satellite technology and microwave, and the remaining 45%, to cable.

Grupo Televisa counted on 60.1% of the clients, divided in its subsidiaries: Sky (39.2%), Cablemas (7.5%), Cablevisión (5.6%), Cablecom (4.8%) and TVI (3%). Followed by Dish MVS (15.5%), Megacable (14.6%) and Cablevisión Red (3.9%). 5.9% of the remaining market is distributed among smaller operators.
