Three candidates are in contention to run for the Presidency this Sunday

It's about the current president, Luis Abinader, who is running for reelection and leads the polls to the point that he could win in the first round; followed by former president Leonel Fernández and former congressman Abel Martínez. ICT issues were not campaign focal points despite existing digital divides.

More than 8.1 million Dominicans will choose a president for the 2024-2028 term. They will also vote for 190 deputies, and 32 senators will renew their seats in the National Congress. On that day, nine presidential candidates will compete, although three of them have the best chances of reaching the goal: Luis Abinader, the current president and candidate for the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM, center-left), who seeks reelection; Leonel Fernández, from the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP, progressive left) and president between 1996 and 2000, 2004 and 2008, and 2008-2012; and Abel Martínez, from the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD, center-left).
